Today kicked-off The Meetings Show UK, a new event for the UK meetings industry offering an unrivalled platform of inbound and outbound business and bringing together the heart of the meetings community. Over 6,000 attendees will gather for three days of robust education, business networking and an exhibition showcasing UK and International destinations, venues and hotels along with key providers of meetings and technology services.
DoubleDutch is proud to be the official mobile conference app provider for the Meetings Show UK and introduce our new, integrated badge scanning feature. The Meetings Show UK and DoubleDutch partnered together to design the app to provide attendees with an engaging tool to guide them around the event, create a schedule on the go, and interact with visitors and exhibitors. The app is developed to seamlessly integrate with social networks like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and utilises DoubleDutch's new mobile badge scanning technology to maximise exhibitors’ leads.
350 exhibitors will be using DoubleDutch's new badge scanning feature that is integrated in the mobile conference app. Booth staffers are able to easily scan QR codes on attendee badges with their smartphones via the DoubleDutch-powered event app. Once a participant is scanned, DoubleDutch immediately surfaces a robust profile of the individual, based on their in-app activity and interests. A digital trail of attendee interests is created through the social nature of the app, which allows users to check-in, post comments, bookmark items, and create personalized agendas. With this information, exhibitors can better understand a lead in real time, and can share a list of scanned attendees with other booth staff. Additionally, with DoubleDutch’s mobile technology, exhibitors can capture even more leads than were scanned at the booth by mining in-app data that signals attendees’ interests in specific companies.

The app is available for mobile devices on Android, iOS and mobile web platforms. It requires users to create a profile and login, so only those who have The Meetings Show UK app can view information provided by other opt-in users.
The design of the app is user friendly and easy to navigate – even for the most technophobic of attendees. The app includes the following features:
- A social news feed detailing attendees’ likes, check-ins and status updates
- Personal profiles where individuals can upload an image and utilise private messaging services
- Personal status updates, shareable via major social media sites
- The ability to follow other individuals and comment on their status
- A ‘leaderboard’ which shows how active the user is in comparison to others
- Search facility to find other users based on shared interests
- Full details of the educational and professional networking programmes
