Merge 2013 Drives Engagement Through Gamification

Merge 2013, a Perforce Conference, kicked off this week in San Francisco, CA. A customer and partner focused event, Merge 2013 will bring together people from all over the world to discuss key issues in Global Development Challenges, IP Security, DevOps, Virtualization, and more.

The team is leveraging major game mechanics in their mobile event app to increase adoption and drive engagement. DoubleDutch event apps are pre-loaded with game mechanics, so users can earn points and badges for check ins, likes, comments and more. Attendees of Merge 2013 are further incentivized to earn event swag (and industry cred) for engaging in the app in lots of creative ways.

For instance, when a user uploads a photo to the Merge 2013 activity feed that gets 10+ likes that user wins a free Perforce t-shirt. By further incentivizing behavior in the application, the Merge 2013 team will be able to leverage more in-app data to reward influencers during and after the conference. After all, it's all about big data, right?

Game mechanics don't stop there for Merge 2013. When attendees of the conference check in to certain locations or sessions, they'll also unlock special badges and earn rewards. To the left is a screenshot of what you can get from checking into the Demo Lounge. Attendees can flaunt these badges with pride as they walk the conference floor.
