The Attitude of Gratitude

With Christmas promotions starting as early as October and the commercialization of every holiday known to man (and some unknown ones - did you know there is a Ferris Wheel Day?!), it can be hard to focus on the reason and meaning of holidays. Don’t get us wrong - we love marketing gimmicks just as much as the next company - but this Thanksgiving, we decided to take a step back and try and recapture what the holiday is all about: Gratitude.

At DoubleDutch, we have a lot to be thankful for. Over the past month, we were recognized for both our industry leading product  and our work environment. First, we made the 2014 OnMobile Top 100 list of promising companies in the mobile tech and app sectors. The list included other startups like Square, Uber, Spotify, and Tinder, so we were in pretty impressive company. Then, Forbes listed us as one of “10 Hot Companies to Work for in San Francisco," citing our creative work environment and top-notch employee perks. To top it off, we were named one of the “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For”by the National Association for Business Resources. The organization selected us for exhibiting innovative strategies to engage employees and best practices in the field. Long story short, it’s been a jam-packed month of recognition.

As our business continues to grow, it’s important to us that we take a moment to remember how we got here - and where we’re going. We attribute much of our success to our culture, and as we add more people to the team roster every week, we work hard to make sure our culture remains at the heart of who we are and how we hire.

At DoubleDutch, we refuse to turn inward. In addition to giving thanks, we want to use this holiday as an opportunity to give back to the community we serve: the Mission. Over the past month our team has been collecting canned and dry goods which we’ll be donating to the SF-Marin Food Bank.

We also partnered with our friends at Eventbrite, who launched “Give More Together”. They have committed to waiving ticketing fees for any nonprofit using Eventbrite for their #GivingTuesday fundraising events from 12/1 - 12/6, and as part of this program, DoubleDutch will provide a free event app to one of these nonprofits.

We may still hit the mall (or let’s be real - the internet) for those Black Friday deals, and we will probably overpay for pumpkin-spice everything, but this Thanksgiving at DoubleDutch, we’realso showing some serious gratitude - because we feel pretty darn fortunate.
